All actors, from the value chain to support activities, are mobilized in this action. To agree with this assertion, today we will study the specific case of a new product creation, the Twana \u2122 XL kiosk, and how the concern for CSR impacted it.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--paragraph\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\">\n \n<p>At the origin of the project, we find the need to renew our interactive terminals range (Cameo \u2122) to adapt it to new needs and new market technologies. Beyond these requirements, we also wanted to apply the&nbsp;<strong>logic of eco-design in the product development<\/strong>. To do this, we needed to integrate environmental protection from the start of this process to ensure that the kiosk ecological&nbsp;<strong>impact was limited throughout its life cycle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--heading\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\">\n \n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is eco-design?<\/h2>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--paragraph\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\">\n \n<p>Eco-design is defined as the manufacture improvement of a product at each stage, from an ecological point of view. Thus, we can have 6 main areas of action when creating a product:<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--list\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\"><ul>\n <li>\n<li><strong>Raw materials:<\/strong>&nbsp;choice of materials, their origin \u2026<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li><strong>Manufacturing:<\/strong>&nbsp;waste of resources, optimization of processes, reduction of the necessary energy and transport \u2026<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong>&nbsp;better logistics, packaging, reduction in weight and volume \u2026<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li><strong>Sale:<\/strong>&nbsp;ease of installation, location, necessary POS advertisement \u2026<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li><strong>Use:<\/strong>&nbsp;lifespan, repairability, robustness \u2026<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li><strong>End of life:<\/strong>&nbsp;recycling of elements, valuation of components, etc.<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <\/ul><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--heading\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\">\n \n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eco-design for the Twana\u2122 XL<\/h2>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--paragraph\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\">\n \n<p>To come back to the Twana\u2122 XL multifunction kiosk, we are going to compare with the old Cameo \u2122 generation:<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"ps-block ps-block--list\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__container\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__grid\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__content\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__body\">\n <div class=\"ps-block__item\"><ul>\n <li>\n<li>Raw material: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esii.com\/en\/solutions\/twana-xl-multiservices-kiosk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twana \u2122 XL,<\/a> with its extension, weighs 20 kg compared to the 54 kg of the old one, i.e. a reduction of 63%.<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li>Manufacturing: to manufacture a Twana\u2122 XL it takes 52 steps including cutting, folding and handling. When we compare the figures to the 312 steps of the Cameo \u2122 terminal, we see a decrease of 84%<\/li>\n<\/li>\n <li>\n<li>Distribution: the packaging of a Twana\u2122 XL requires 17 elements, i.e. 16 foam pads and a box.
